| What is My Whenua? | My Whenua is an online portal that allows whānau, owners and trustees to stay connected to whenua that we look after. Users can log in to this secure website to access information about their whenua. |
| What information is provided on My Whenua? | Your My Whenua account contains official land information you might need, in one convenient place. For each block, you can see maps, photos, reports, minutes from meetings, upcoming meetings, history and news. |
| Can anyone access information on My Whenua? | There are four levels of access based on your connection to the whenua:
You can see your level of access for each whenua in the ‘Ōku Whenua | My whenua’ page. |
| Why are whānau only able to access general information? | We understand that information about whenua is a taonga. While we encourage whānau to stay informed and engaged, we need to be sure that sensitive information like reports and financials are reaching owners and trustees of the whenua, who are authorised to receive this information. |
| Why can’t I see some information in My Whenua that I was able to see before? | Some information may no longer be visible in My Whenua because:
We’re working through these changes, and you will see updates and improvements over time. |
| If I use My Whenua, will I still be invited to meetings of owners? | Yes, you will still be invited to meetings of owners. My Whenua does not replace those opportunities to meet kanohi ki te kanohi. We hold meetings at the frequency set in the trust order for the whenua. Information on My Whenua can help you stay up to date in between hui, and access documents whenever you want. You can also use My Whenua to contact Te Tumu Paeroa with any questions you have. |
| How does My Whenua protect my data? | My Whenua protects your data by following Te Tumu Paeroa’s Māori Data Sovereignty framework, Information Security Policy and Privacy Policy, which are designed to ensure Te Tumu Paeroa treats your information as taonga. This means:
|
| Why haven't I been granted permission as an owner or trustee? | We work hard to ensure the integrity of the owners list. That's why we confirm that these shares belong to you (and not another person with a similar name) by comparing the information you provide us with the succession orders from the Māori Land Court. This can take 1-6 weeks. It depends on several things, including how much data you've provided and how much data we already have or can get from the Māori Land Court. |
| Will you let me know when I've been granted access as an owner/trustee? | Yes, once we've completed our research and confirmed your ownership details, we'll send you an email to let you know that you've been granted full access to whenua where you're an owner or trustee. |
| How do I add or remove whenua to my account? | Use the search bar on the 'Whenua' form to add or remove whenua that you're connected to. |
| What if I don't know the name of whenua I have shares in? | If you've succeeded to whenua through the Māori Land Court, and we've already confirmed your details, whenua that you have shares in will automatically appear. You can also use the search in the Pātaka Whenua End User Portal to find further whenua that you're connected to. |
| Can other people see my profile information? | No, your personal details are private. |
| Why is the Māori Trustee involved in administering whenua I have shares in? | The process for appointing trustees goes through the Māori Land Court. In the ‘’Summary’ section for a whenua, you'll find information about what type of trustee role we perform. |
| Can I share my My Whenua account with my whānau? | You can show them information on My Whenua but for security reasons, we ask that you don’t share your My Whenua login details with anyone, including your whānau. Instead, encourage them to create their own My Whenua account to keep informed about whenua they're connected to. |
